Today’s data-driven social media are constantly pushing the speed of all fiber optic networks to their limit. This puts high demands on the performance of the laser at the front end of the network, in particular, the stability of the laser against back-reflection. Optical isolators are commonly employed to improve the stability of the laser by reducing back-reflection. Fiber optic multimeters, based on OPM and OLS, have well served the industry for many years. However, these multimeters cannot provide any information on the anti-reflection ability of a laser - in other words, they cannot distinguish between a well isolated laser and a reflection-sensitive laser. Further complicating this issue is the exponentially increasing use of optical fiber. Identification of unmarked fiber/cable has become a frequent task prior to carrying out maintenance or fault finding in the field.
The GC3460 has been developed to provide efficient solutions to the above issues while preserving the functions of a conventional fiber optic multimeter. It brings a new concept to the world of high density optical fiber testing。
